In an exciting development for the residents of Lynn, the city is set to receive a significant boost in career skills training opportunities thanks to a second round of grant funding. This funding, provided by the Career Technical Initiative (CTI), is designed to offer adult-education classes in high-demand occupations, helping individuals acquire the skills needed to secure well-paying jobs. Tripling Training Slots at Lynn Tech
The grant funding received by Lynn in 2023 amounted to $200,000, enabling Lynn Tech to offer 20 slots in automotive technology and welding. Building on the success of the initial cohort, Lynn has been designated for a more substantial grant of $490,000 this year. This increase in funding will allow Lynn Tech to triple the number of training slots, offering opportunities to 60 adults eager to enhance their skills in these high-demand fields.
The first cohort, which recently graduated, saw 11 individuals completing the welding course and seven finishing the automotive technology program. With the additional funding, Lynn Tech is gearing up to offer 12 slots each in welding and auto tech starting in September. Subsequently, in January 2025, they will open up 12 slots in these courses along with 12 slots in plumbing, further diversifying the training options available to the community.
